Approximately 350 journalists, scientists and sport officials from 38 countries joined this world communication forum for discussion and debate on sport and society.  The conference title was ‘Stepping Up for Democracy in Sport’.

This was a new audience for discussing issues related to Olympic Canoe/Kayak, thus the big picture overview of the Sport.

Play the Game’s aim is to strengthen the ethical foundation of sport and promote democracy, transparency and freedom of expression in sport. It is run by the Danish Institute for Sports Studies, an independent institution set up by the Danish Ministry of Culture.

It continues to be cutting edge in international sports debate, covering areas such as sport corruption, match-fixing, anti-doping, sport reform, global sports governance, human rights, gender equality, discrimination, sport as recreation, sport for culture change, etc.

WomenCAN International continues to educate and advocate for Olympic inclusion for women’s canoe for 2016 and balance between the genders and canoe/kayak by 2020.
