The 2014 South East Asian Canoeing Championships (SEACC) took place October 11, 2014 at Marina Reservoir, Singapore.   Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand competed in only women’s canoe events at this year’s SEACC – the C1 200.

Congratulations to Gold medalist Truong Thi Phoung from Vietnam, who won by over 4 seconds over silver medalist Naw Cherry Win of Myanmar.  Thailand’s Thiangkathok Orasa narrowly edged out Singapore’s Cheryl Tay for the final podium spot.

To the right is a fantastic photo of Singapore’s Cheryl Tay en route to a 4th place finish, a mere .25 seconds away from a bronze medal.  This was a personal best, after a season of injuries.  Excellent recovery for this former national team kayaker, and she is working on her PhD!

Congratulations to all of the competitors . Strong showing!

The 2015 South East Asian Games will include Women’s C1 200 for the first time ever.  Let’s work together to get a full program for women’s canoe at all Asian Continental, Regional, National and Local competitions.
