She crushed her final run with no penalties and cruised to a resounding victory in this first World Cup of the 2014 season. And in front of her home crowd! A surprise silver for her teammate Eilidh Gibson, who had the second fastest run of the final and despite 4 seconds penalty, hung on for 2nd. China’s Qianqian Teng also put in a strong clean final run, edging out Australia’s Jessica Fox by a mere .07 seconds.

Great Britain, China, Australia and Czech Republic all had 2 canoeists in the C1W final.

In the Team competition – once again Great Britain takes Gold, but just barely over China, by 1.65 seconds. China has stormed into2014 slalom world cup 1 final this World Cup series and we look to see more podium finishes from them as the season moves on.
